James McDonald is an Australian retired teacher, union official, academic, and actor in his seventies. He presently lives a quieter life in Umbria, the “Green Heart” of Italy, learning Italian, writing, painting, and fretting about the madness of the world and what his generation has left his grandchildren. He takes a positive attitude towards trying to make a difference. Grifonaut is his third blog in the past 15 years, during which he has also been active on social media, but closing his Twitter account, and reluctantly remaining on Facebook to keep in touch with family and friends in Australia. He is also a British citizen. He has returned to Twitter with an account for this site at @grifonaut.
